Charrita Danley Quimby, PH.D

Passionate about creating stories, Dr. Charrita Danley Quimby penned and published the novel, Through the Crack, chronicling one family’s struggle to overcome drug addiction.  As the founder of Chideria Publishing, Inc., she provides writing, editing and publishing services to a broad range of clients.  Having written and edited numerous manuscripts, reports, grants, and other materials for individuals and organizations, she is often called upon as a keynote speaker and conducts presentations and workshops on various topics. She is the content editor of the Women of Color Daily Devotional Fall & Winter 2021 and Spring & Summer 2021 publications and a contributing writer in both publications. 

A career K-12 and higher education professional, Dr. Quimby’s academic background and experiences have afforded her a variety of opportunities, including serving as a teacher, mentor, administrator communications strategist and public engagement specialist. In each of her professional roles, her primary goals have been to create environments that are conducive to learning, to positively promote the value of education, to engage communities in education initiatives and to highlight individuals, programs and organizations that create, offer, encourage, support, and invest in educational opportunities.

Currently, Dr. Quimby serves as Vice President & Chief of Staff at Hampton University and Director of the Hampton University Press.  A member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., she attended Tougaloo College, Louisiana State University, and Georgia State University, earning the B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. degrees in English, respectively.  A native of Mississippi, she is married to Ronald Quimby. Their family includes one son and two daughters.
